Double Hole In one for Murrayshall Lady Member Jean McEwan!

How many of us can but dream of achieving a hole in one - all I am sure as we eye up the short Par 3 facing us during each round we play!

Jean McEwan achieved an amazing double recently at the same hole and within a three week period!

Jean was playing Murrayshall Ladies Invitation day on Monday, May 13th when at the 18th hole she hit her last tee shot of the day and scored a tremendous hole in one much to the delight of her guest and playing partners!

Some three weeks later while playing in a preliminary round of the Summer Trophy, Jean once again stepped up on the 18th tee, lined herself up and swung her club. To the astonishment of her playing partners (and Jean herself!) the beautifully executed shot soared through the air, landed on the green and rolled right up to the hole before disappearing from sight! An amazing second hole in one!

We send our heartfelt congratulations to Jean for this amazing achievement - I am sure you are all glad you haven't had to pay for Jean's bar bill!

Murrayshall Ladies Open Competition Result

June 6th dawned a glorious sunny day and one we shall remember for many years to come - the day of our 2013 Murrayshall Ladies Open.

How often have we been blessed with such fabulous conditions? Despite the excellent conditions overhead the course proved more of a challenge and low scoring proved difficult to come by for the 66 ladies who took part on the day!

Visitors CSS was 74
Home CSS was 72

Nevertheless some excellent scores were returned and they were as follows:

LOWEST GROSS SCORE

1. Eilidh Watson (Muckhart) - gross 77
2. Heather Munro (Monifieth) - gross 78

BEST NET SCORE

1. Claire Bidwell (Dunkeld & Birnam) - net 68
2. Diane Todd (Dunning) - net 69
3. Carol Tweedie (Murrayshall) - net 70

Claire Bidwell wins the Murrayshall Rosebowl and the pictures below show Claire receiving her trophy from Vice-Captain Nicola Gilmore.

Congratulations also go to Murrayshall's Carol Tweedie who wins the Doreen Hutchison Trophy for the lowest net score returned by a Murrayshall Lady member. Well done Carol!

Perth & Kinross handicap League

On Sunday June 9th Murrayshall Ladies successfully challenged King James V1 Ladies in the first tie of the newly formed Ladies Perth & Kinross Handicap League. Murrayshall Ladies won by 6 points to 4. Congratulations to the 5 team members who played in this match and a special mention to Yvonne McGregor who won her tie 4 & 3.

Peugeot LGU Coronation Foursomes Qualifier, 2013

Well done to Aileen Priestley & Jane Yellowlees
Aileen & Jane pipped last year's winners Jean Jasper & Diana Alston by virtue of a better inward half to win this year's Peugeot LGU Coronation Foursomes Qualifier on Saturday.

The results were as follows:
1st  Aileen Priestley & Jane Yellowlees - 36pts (BIH)
2nd  Jean Jasper & Diana Alston - 36pts

The winning pair are eligible to compete in one of the Area Finals in July and August.
The winners of the Area Finals will go on to compete at the 2013 Grand Final on Monday 16th September at St Andrews.

Ladies' Invitation Day 2013

Congratulations to Jean McEwan and her guest Alison Stockley!

Jean and Alison narrowly pipped Jean Jasper and her guest Maggie Ewen to win the Murrayshall Ladies' Invitation Day today by one shot with an excellent Nett 71.

The challenge of playing partnership golf in strong winds was followed by a prize-giving lunch, which included the brief appearance of tiers of mini cakes and the presentation of some very exclusive prizes.

Jean Aces the 18th Hole

Many Congratulations to Jean McEwan.
Jean, who was playing in the Ladies' Invitation Day today, had a Hole-in-one at the par three 18th Hole on the Murrayshall course with a 5 wood into a very strong wind.  

Her playing partners were her guest Alison Stockley, Sylvia Mitchell and Helen Dalgleish.
